JNVST 2023: Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test Class 6

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) is an annual entrance examination conducted by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) for admission to Class 6 in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) across India. The JNVST 2023-24 is scheduled to be held on April 29th, 2023. In this article, we will cover all the essential details about JNVST 2023-24.

Eligibility Criteria for JNVST 2023

Eligibility criteria for JNVST 2023-24 requires the candidate to be studying in Class 5 during the academic session 2022-23 in a government or government-aided school or any other recognized school. The candidate must have been born between 1st May 2011 and 30th April 2013, making the candidate’s age between 10 and 12 years as of 30th April 2023.

The candidate must be a resident of the district where the JNV is situated. If sufficient candidates are not available in the district, the adjacent district may be considered for admission. Also, the candidate must have completed and passed classes III, IV, and V from a government-sponsored or officially recognized institution after attending each class for a full academic semester.

Application Process 2023

The online application process for JNVST 2023-24 is straightforward, and registration is free. Candidates can apply through the NVS admission portal accessible at navodaya.gov.in from any device, including desktop, laptop, smartphone, or tablet. 

Candidates must enter their basic information, such as state, district, block, Aadhaar number, and more, on the application portal. Eligible candidates must complete the online form and upload verified certificates with a photograph, as well as the signatures of both the candidate and their parents.

To register for JNVST 2023-24, parents can approach the JNV help desk with the candidate and required documents, including verified certificates with photographs, signatures of both candidates and parents, and a mobile phone with a valid active mobile number to receive the OTP, registration number, and password via SMS for the registration process.

The correction window for changing the information in the selected fields will be available for a few days after the application form’s deadline. The NVS website/registration portal will provide information on how to open the correction window.

Syllabus for JNVST 2023-24

The syllabus for JNVST 2023-24 is based on the syllabus of Class 5 of the State/UT where the JNV is located. The test comprises three sections:

1. Mental Ability Test (MAT- 50 marks): This section has 40 multiple-choice questions that test the candidate’s reasoning and critical thinking abilities based on figures, diagrams, and patterns.

2. Arithmetic Test (AT- 25 marks): This section has 20 multiple-choice questions that test the candidate’s mathematical abilities based on topics such as Number System, Fractions, Decimals, Percentage, Measurement, etc.

3. Language Test (LT- 25 marks): This section has 20 multiple-choice questions that test the candidate’s language skills based on comprehension of passages, grammar, and vocabulary.

Important Dates for JNVST 2023-24

JNVST 2023-24 has some important dates to keep in mind, which includes:

  • Notification For JNVST 2023-24: 2nd January 2023
  • Last Date To Fill Application Form: 31st January 2023 (Extended Till 15th Feb 2023)
  • Issue Of Admit Card Date: 5th January 2023
  • Date Of JNVST 2023-24: 29th April 2023
  • Declaration Of Result: June 2023 (Tentative)

Admit Card for JNVST 2023-24

The admit card for JNVST 2023-24 will be provided to candidates after the submission of the application form. The admit card will contain important details such as the candidate’s name, roll number, date and time of the examination, and examination centre. Candidates must bring the admit card to the examination centre along with a valid photo ID proof.

Each candidate must appear for the selection test at the assigned testing location stated on the admit card. No candidate from another centre is permitted to enter a different centre.

Result of JNVST 2023-24

The result of JNVST 2023-24 will be announced on the official website of NVS in June 2023. Candidates can check their results by clicking the result link and entering their Application Number and Date of Birth. 

The result will also be displayed in the offices of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya District Education Officer, District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner of the Region’s Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, and District Education Officer. The provisionally selected candidates will be notified by the respective Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya’s Principal through SMS to the registered mobile number, followed by a speed post.

NVS will make public only two wait lists for positions that might become open owing to provisionally selected candidates’ refusal or failure to submit certain fundamental credentials. The entire admission process for the academic year 2023–2024 will be completed, at the latest by December 31st, 2023.
