However, in no district will the reservation be less than the national average (15% for SC and 7.5% for ST), subject to a maximum of 50% for both categories taken together. These reservations are interchangeable and over and above the candidates provisionally selected under open merit.
3. Other Backward Classes (OBC): JNV Reservation of Seats
27% reservation is provided to OBC students as per the central list, over and above the reservation of SCs and STs. The reservations for OBC students are implemented as per the Central List, as applicable from time to time. OBC candidates not included in the Central List would apply as General Candidates.
4. Girls: JNV Reservation of Seats
To ensure gender equality, a minimum of one-third of the total seats are filled by girls. In order to maintain this ratio, girls may be preferred over boys as per NVS selection criteria, wherever necessary.
5. Block-wise Allocation: JNV Reservation of Seats
Rural-open seats are allocated block-wise based on the rural population of the concerned block, as per NVS selection criteria.
6. Divyang Children (Persons with Disabilities):
Reservation is also provided for Divyang children, i.e., Orthopedically Handicapped, Hearing Impaired, and Visually Handicapped, as per the Government of India norms. A “Person with Disability” is defined as someone suffering from not less than 40% of any disability as certified by a medical authority.
