JNV Lahaul & Spiti found its permanent home in the year 2017, moving from JNV Kaza to JNV Lari. Located at an impressive altitude of 3200 meters above sea level, the school is situated approximately 53 kilometers away from Kaza, on the way to Reckong Peo. The campus is in close proximity to the renowned Tabo—a place steeped in history and home to a large, significant monastery.

As part of the New Education Policy, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Kaza at Lari, Distt. Lahaul & Spiti, was founded on 14th April 2000 by Sh. P.S. Draik, the then Additional Deputy Commissioner. The school’s mission is guided by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, New Delhi—an autonomous organization working under the Department of Education, Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The first Incharge Principal of the Vidyalaya was Sh. A.K. Mishra.
